Nancy Rajanen Patient

Nancy is a retired career educator, working as a Special Education teacher, school administrator, and Superintendent in MN public schools for 40 years. After retirement, I taught at the University of MN for 7 years. Despite being an avid swimmer, very healthy eater, with no risk factors (weight, smoking, genetics, activity) I developed sudden cardiomyopathy with advanced heart failure. Despite numerous attempts at medications and devices, my EF remained in the teens. My U of MN doctor implanted the CardioMEMs in 2016, and it allowed me to have real-time data that quantified my symptoms and allowed my care team to immediately make medication changes, or recommend other actions needed to stabilize my breathing. My EF is now in the 40s, and I continue to monitor my internal pressures far less frequently, and I am living a full life as a retiree - travelling extensively and exercising daily.
