Kristin is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-S) and the owner of Malaer Mental Health Services, PLLC. With over a decade of experience in the Texas Medical Center and nine years dedicated to supporting end-stage organ failure, transplant, and LVAD patients, she has established herself as a leader in the field of transplant social work. Kristin has served on the boards of the Society of Transplant Social Workers (STSW) and the International Consortium of Circulatory Assist Clinicians (ICCAC) for the past four years, contributing to advancements in patient care and professional development.
In June 2024, Kristin transitioned from hospital bedside care to private practice, where she provides tele-therapy tailored to chronically ill clients, transplant patients, and healthcare professionals. She has a deep passion for education, as demonstrated by her leadership in developing comprehensive transplant education classes for patients and caregivers, ensuring they are well-informed and empowered throughout their journey.
Kristin is an experienced public speaker, with her insights on transplant ethics and psychosocial care featured at prestigious platforms, including the Society of Transplant Social Workers, ICCAC, The Houston Shock Symposium 2023 and TNSWA Conference 2024. Her engaging presentations are rooted in her commitment to equipping mental health and healthcare professionals with actionable knowledge while fostering a collaborative learning environment.
Outside her professional endeavors, Kristin is a dedicated mother to her spirited three-year-old daughter and a lifelong learner who thrives on exploring innovative ways to enhance patient care and professional practice.
