Dr. Jacob Abraham MD

Dr. Abraham is a cardiologist with the Providence Heart Institute and the section head of Advanced Heart Failure.

Dr. Abraham began the advanced heart failure program at Providence in 2009 and played a central role in the development of programs in hemodynamic monitoring, durable left ventricular assist device, cardiogenic shock/temporary mechanical circulatory support, and most recently, heart transplantation.

He earned his undergraduate degree at Rhodes College and after completing a Rotary International Scholarship at the University of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia). He completed his medical degree, residency and fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Johns Hopkins. He was an Assistant Chief of Service (ACS) at Johns Hopkins for the Janeway Firm.

His research interests include advanced heart failure, cardiogenic shock, temporary mechanical circulatory support, and remote hemodynamic management.

Dr. Abraham is on the scientific steering committee of the Cardiogenic Shock Working Group (CSWG) and co-founder of Hemodynamic Frontiers of Heart Failure (HF2).

He is an active investigator for clinical trials for all stages of heart failure.
