Dr. Farooq Sheikh is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine. He is the Director of the Infiltrative Cardiomyopathy Program and Medical Director of the Mechanical Circulatory Program at the MedStar Heart and Vascular Institute.

Dr. Sheikh graduated from New York Medical College. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Columbia University Medical Center. He was a Cardiovascular Medicine and Advanced Heart Failure Fellow at The Johns Hopkins Hospital where he subsequently served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine.

Dr. Sheikh’s has served as site principal investigator for several amyloidosis clinical trials. His clinical and research interest lies in the evaluation of patients with transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis, particularly the clinical characteristics and outcomes of hATTR patients with the Val122Ile mutation.

Dr. Sheikh is the recipient of several awards including the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, Frank L. Pollack Research Award at New York Medical College, Professionalism Award of the Department of Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center, and the Chief’s Award for Innovation at the MedStar Heart and Vascular Institute.
