Samer S. Najjar, MD is a Professor of Medicine at Georgetown and the Chief of Cardiology for the MedStar Baltimore region. Prior to this position, he served as the Director of the Advanced Heart Failure program at MedStar Heart and Vascular Institute. Prior to joining MedStar, Dr Najjar held dual appointments at the National Institutes of Health and at Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Najjar graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College, then completed medical school at Yale University, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He performed his internship and residency training in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he also pursued a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases, with subspecialty training in advanced heart failure and heart transplantation.

Dr Najjar is a sought after speaker who has authored and co-authored more than 120 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters.
